Deadly DEADLINE!

FRIDAY 14th NOVEMBER 2008 - A bad hair day would have been a million times better than a day it turned out to be. To start off with was cell bio test. Can it get any worse?!?!? Anyway deadline for our 50% experimental biochem report was at 5pm and we had decided that we wouldn’t touch the report till cell bio get done coz well things to be mugged for CB was simply overwhelming! Thus, we were literally counting on every minute right after 12pm to get the report done. By WE, of course I refer to me and my life savior Mathura ( haha...I know it sounds ridiculous. I am completely sane when I typing this.. atleast for now, for, lord knows what nus will do to me in the years to come. Anyway ladies and gentlemen, reasons for that would be brought into limelight as you read further )

So yah.. there we sat at yih student socities area wearing that “Oh-my-god-i–just-want-to-get-this-done” look on our faces.

12.30pm- I still have 30% of my report untouched. Virgin it was =P

1.00pmMathura and I decide that whatever it takes, we are getting this whole thing done by 4pm as we have to get it printed and hand in the hard copy at our beloved cool and cosy lab.

2.00pm-I see a mail from my lab partners saying that they are CHANGING the literature for our enzyme property and CHANGING the pI and CHANGING the entire purification table. Now I am not quite sure if a non-science student would understand my predicament at this remark but this actually means I change my entire discussion which is absolutely CRAZY! So its a total NO-NO!

>>FF (fastforwarded)

4.15pm- We are still at the same yih SS area with eyes locked on our laptop screens and our hands on keypad mechanically rattling away all the possible words which our minds could think off at that point of time .Thanks to my philosophy module which made me so not-in-touch with scientific writings for quite sometime. All of the sudden I realize my lab report looks like a love letter!

4.30pm - OK thats it! we had to rightfully stop now if we dint want to land in deep trouble. BUT... ahah! Thats when we realize we have not done our turnitin part. And THIS THIS THIS is the time when you don’t get logged in.. incorrect password blah blah an BLAH!

4.40pm - Location: CBLC printing area. Lab reports sent to the printer and we breathe a sigh of relief. But then again.. what we saw was “ REPLACE PRINT CARTRIGE”. I freaked out! Thanks to Mathura who was still calm and said its perfectly ok we can still make it if we send it again and so we do.

4.45pm - The best part- we send it and get it printed instantly. YAY! BUT...Ahuhuh..Mathura had sent hers to A3 printer! And it would look slightly odd when u see a poster sized lab report admidst the regular A4 sized ones wouldn’t it?

4.50pm -New cartridge.. new jobs retrived all set I wish I could say GO when the screen showed 11 documents in queue... PERFECT! Simply fantastic!

4.56pm - Surprisingly it was fast and we got it out. And we RAN .. ran as though we were being chased by a stray dog which had not been fed for days...ran for our lives knowing the nature of our grumpy TA who wouldn’t accept the report 1 minute past 5pm. We cursed the landscapes of NUS for being so hilly and staircase-sy and cursed our laptop makers who made our 3.5kg laptops and cursed ourselves for being silly enough to run with it! So I chose to stay back and watch our bags and laptops. Clinging on to both our lab reports, Mathura continued our mission. RUN GIRL run! Run as though your running for the pride and honour of your family, I thought , and quietly relented myself into Spinelli@university hall for a hot cup of hot choc thinking that she would call when she is back.

5.20pm - no call..no Mathura.. I tried calling her umpteen times... no ans!?!?!?!?!?! then realized that her phne was vibrating her bag which was right next to me! Maybe if I could just go out and take a peek at whats happening. Poor thing, there she was, my hero! She had been walking up and down yelling my names just like devotees in thirumala do when they walk to tirupathi! If only she had gone to jayu’s room and called me using her phone, would have made all our lives better! LOL.

It was a day where all the possible things which could go wrong DID go wrong! Moral of the story, don’t do last minute work! Dont print at CBLC! And this one is for Mathura, thank all the god and goddess in the world that you forgot ur heels that day! Anyway thank you mathu, u were really an angel...if not for you I would have probably not have made it through. As chanchal says it, you were just AWESUM ;)

Btw dear... This blog layout was my first layout when I started a blog.. =) Haha.. High five!! And you can find many nice blogskins online. Just search for "blogger xml templates" or "blogger xml skins" on google. Copy and past the xml code into "Layout" -> edit html... Then preview.. but the bad thing is that all your widgets in the sidebar will be gone.. Whatever you have downloaded and added.... But do give it a try when you have the vetti time and if you really really like a blog skin.. =)
