Coz' we've been brought up so?

A good friend posted on her fb that there are people celebrating india's one run win when they should be mourning for the pilgrims dead in sabarimala stampede. Yes I admit its not really a nice thing to see but the reality is that we are brought up this way. Parenting is to be blamed! I'll tell you why.

Take this for an example. A toddler falls down and starts crying. And what does the loving mother do? Well she is a mom so basically just anything and everything to quiet him and soothe him down. But if you look at it with extreme scrutiny, you'll see how she turns him into this cunning heartless culprit without even realizing it.

1. Distraction
This is definitely the first in line. She grabs the nearest toy / makes ridiculous faces to drift him away from the thought of pain. Mom happy kid happy. Who is to be blamed here?

2.Ill memory span
Soon, after getting excited over the new toy, the kid totally forgets why he was crying for.
I need to quote Siddharth here. (dint find the video sorry) We all have been accused for having ridiculously short attention and memory span. Guilty as accused but for a country with so much happening in every nook and corner, we cant help it. We were taught to get distracted remember?

3.Bribe
Ahh this is nasty. When plan A fails, she tries to woo him with ice cream / chocolates / cookies (mental note: must try the new brownie in canteen for lunch). Anyway, see this is the SOLE and probably the most ancient reason why a county seeps with corruption and money laundering.

I am deeply sorry for the pilgrims and wish to send condolences to every family, but there is pretty much nothing else to do but move on. Some people take lesser time than the others (depends on the element of distraction). And this dear friend of mine obviously finds it a little difficult. I honestly appreciate her concern and if I were anywhere around her, I would do my best to "mom" her too =) Its perfectly fair, either way.
